Prospective Graduate Students

The lab is recruiting a student to start Fall 2025!

I encourage my students to collaborate with me on existing projects and animal models, while also developing their own research interests. I am open to advising students working in related areas, as long as their research questions align closely with my expertise.

Prospective graduate students interested in joining the lab can contact me to discuss their research interests prior to submitting an application to the graduate program in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Information about the PhD programs and the application process can be found here: Graduate Programs at UMBC.

Please include in your email:

  1. A cover letter outlining their research interests and motivations

The lab is actively recruiting multiple undergraduate student research assistants now!

Highly motivated undergraduate students who can commit to at least two semesters are encouraged to contact me about research opportunities in the lab. After successfully completing the first semester and demonstrating responsibility and reliability, students will have the opportunity to participate in research projects.

At UMBC, research can be conducted for academic credit or on a volunteer basis. Please consult your academic advisor to determine the appropriate number of research credits to pursue.

Please include in your email:

  1. Your interests in biology and why you want to join the Li lab
  2. Your year in college
